Venue: H2B’s Base

January 30, 2010

We took a drive to H2B’s base earlier this week and had a look around. The entire base had a Mediterranean feel, with yellow stucco buildings and orange tiles. The reception is held in the officer’s club.

City Club (update)

January 29, 2010

According to my earlier post, I liked the menu and prices at the City Club enough to follow up with a showing.  Most unfortunately for us, we went to see the view of the city during a thunderstorm.  Instead of the skyline and lights, we got a view of fog and rain.  I took a couple fuzzy phone pics of the room.

Skyline high rise reception trying to part me from my pocketbook.  See the green building?  It’s on the top floor.

Alfred Angelo

January 27, 2010

H2B promised not to look at any of these pictures.  H2B, if you are reading this your pants will spontaneously burst into flames.

He said he doesn’t want to see me in a wedding dress until The Day, but I have to post these for you.  I wouldn’t mind if he came dress shopping with me, but he’s a little old fashioned.  I asked for his evaluation so I can pick something we both like.  This is all he has to say on the topic.  “Fitted on the top, a little poof on the front, a big poof on the back, but not so big I can’t stand next to you.”

Flip Book Fun

January 26, 2010

Last weekend my maid of honor (MoH) and I went to another wedding convention. This one was much bigger than the previous expo I attended, and much more protective of their vendors. No cameras allowed. We were prepared with 2 cameras to take lots of pictures and share it with you, but alas.

Instead I can only share the good ideas that we came away with. Possibly the most fun thing we did was a flip book. The vendor is called The Mobile Flipbook Studio. They come to your wedding and set up a corner to take 7 second videos of the guests. The video is separated into 50 frames or so, which then prints immediately and translates into a mini flipbook.

Shutter Booth Fun

January 25, 2010

I came across this at the first wedding expo I attended (and the only one H2B will ever attend).  It’s a photo booth for rent.  Set it up in a corner at the reception and guests can take a series of 4 passport-style picture which prints out immediately.  The bottom of the photo strip can be personalized.

H2B and I took a trial run.  Then another.  It was alot of fun.

There’s a props table with feather boas, funny hats and glasses.  H2B and I didn’t need any embellishments.

This service is provided by ShutterBooth.  The basic 3 hour rental including setup, unlimited photos, and an attendant costs along the lines of $700.

Let’s talk about beauty from the inside out.  Sure makeup and hair makes us faux-great from the outside.  But it’s the inside that counts, right?  Wrong.  The inside can be full of cheeseburgers and high fructose corn syrup if you can strap on a girdle and hop in a powder room before walking down the aisle.  After all, wedding gowns have room aplenty for stomach-sucking-contraptions.

But if you want to continue looking alluring for the wedding night, read on.
